That 70s Glow

Blog 1
It’s no secret that the fashion world has a fascination with era-inspired pieces. To actually have a piece that is circa 70s creates a huge commotion, especially festival items that may have been worn to the 1969 phenomenon known as Woodstock. Shows such as That 70s Show work to capture the allure of what my generation refers to as an “ancient” time.

Television isn’t the only medium that tries to capture the 70s, however. The recent film X-Men: Days of Future Past (yes, I was able to type that without completely fan-girling out) does an excellent job of portraying this period—both in terms of politics AND, my favorite, FASHION.

Jennifer Lawrence, who plays the ever-so-fierce Mystique, rocks these 1970s staples:

Crop tops, wide-brimmed hats, and halter dresses…oh my!

For JLaw’s wide-brimmed hat in photograph one, try the 70s Black Luxe floppy hat by Mu Du and courtesy of ASOS.

For a sexy spin on the halter dress in photograph two, how about the Ladakh Sonoma Trim Embroidered Black Dress courtesy of Lulus? Add this mixed brown faux fur white coat from Choies for colder nights.

Now…as for Pietro Maximoff (AKA Quicksilver)…

The metallic trend is taking over this summer from Tyler Glenn to Pietro Maximoff (as seen above). To score this look, try the Silver Metallic Colby Leather Jacket by Allsaints and courtesy of lyst.com. Add a Pink Floyd T-shirt and these Johnny sunglasses in matte black by A.OK and courtesy of Oak to complete your outfit.

The 70s called, and they’re all the rage this summer.

Style On,

Sierra Cortner
